Phil Wille
Phil Wille oversees both the UW Office of Academic Support and Compliance Office. Wille came to Wyoming in 2005 as the school's Eligibility/Compliance Specialist. The following year, he became Director of Compliance, overseeing the day-to-day operations of that office, which focused primarily on NCAA rules compliance. Wille was also responsible for oversight of the UW track and field and tennis programs for one year. A four year letterwinner in basketball at Valparaiso University, Wille earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from the school in 2002. Wille, a native of Columbus, Ohio, proceeded to earn his Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso in 2005. He also passed the Indiana State Bar Exam.
Gwen Cotterman Gwen Cotterman enters her fifth year with the UW Office of Academic Support. Prior to arriving in Laramie in Fall 2005, she worked as a Coordinator in the Academic Assistance program at Drake University from 2001-2005, adding CHAMPS/Life Skills responsibilities to her position in 2003. From 2000-01, Cotterman was an assistant coach with the women's cross country and track and field teams at Drake. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Administration from Pepperdine (Malibu, Calif.) in 1996, where she was a four-year member of the varsity cross country team. Following that, she went on to earn her Master's in Education, with an emphasis in Sport Administration, from Bowling Green State University in 1999. During that time, she worked as a graduate assistant in the school of Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies (1997-99) and as a practicum student in the athletics department (1998-99), while volunteering with the women's cross country team. A native of California, Cotterman's responsibilities include academic assistance to student-athletes of the men's and women's cross country/track and field and men's and women's swimming/diving programs. She also oversees the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Jason Frank Jason Frank begins his second year as a member of the UW Office of Academic Support. Frank earned his Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education, with a double major in English and Speech (broadcast emphasis) from Central Michigan University in 2004. He lettered in baseball, as a relief pitcher for the Chippewas, with a career-high 11 appearances and one save in 2001. From 2000 to 2005, he worked as an on-air personality at WCFX-FM in Mount Pleasant, after working for two other groups of commercial radio stations near his hometown in southwest Michigan. Frank coached junior varsity baseball in Saginaw, Michigan, in 2005, and he taught eighth grade English and co-coached girls basketball at Molasky Junior High School in Las Vegas in 2005-2006. He comes to Wyoming from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he assisted in the Student-Athlete Academic Services department, while working on his Master's Degree in Sport and Leisure Services Management, which he completed in December 2008. Frank defended his thesis, "The athletic, academic, and social experiences of female intercollegiate team sport student-athletes," the morning after the Wyoming-UNLV football game, which he attended as both a UNLV student and a Wyoming staff member. His responsibilities at UW include academic coordination for women's basketball, volleyball, soccer, and tennis. He also coordinates and oversees the student-athlete tutoring program. A native of Watervliet, Michigan, Frank has a two-year-old son, Kason.
Adam Hughes Adam Hughes joined the UW Office of Academic Support in January 2009. Hughes is the academic coordinator for football and golf, and he also coordinates the mentor program. Prior to joining the Office of Academic Support, Hughes worked as a graduate assistant in Academic Services at the University of Missouri from 2007-2008, working with the sports of football and volleyball. From 2004-2007, Hughes coached varsity football at Sarasota High School in Sarasota, Fla., and worked as an academic coordinator for athletics at Manatee Community College in Bradenton, Fla. Originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Hughes graduated from the University of Missouri with an undergraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2004 and a Master's in Health Education and Promotion in 2009. Hughes has been a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) since 2005. Hughes is married to the former Kat Wingert, a Missouri volleyball player from 2000-02. |
