The Cowboy Joe Club, the major fund raising entity for the University of Wyoming
Athletics Department, announced the recipients of 18 athletic endowed scholarships. The announcement was made today by Cowboy Joe Club Executive Director John Stark.
A total of 22 current student-athletes at the University of Wyoming will have a portion of their athletic scholarships paid during the 2000-01 school year through generous contributions and endowments by former Wyoming athletes and coaches, alumni and friends and family of the University and the Athletics Department.
"This is the most scholarships we have ever been able to award in one year," said Stark. "This is evidence of the kind of loyalty that Wyoming has from its alumni and friends of Wyoming."
These scholarships will be funded by the interest and proceeds from each endowment that has been made through the University of Wyoming Foundation targeted specifically for student-athletes.
"On behalf of the student-athletes and the Wyoming Athletics Department, I would like to say thank you to the donors for the generous contributions they have made," Stark added. "We hope this program continues to grow."
