Junior: Hougardy added depth to the cowboy roster in the backstroke events. He took part in eight meets for Wyoming. He excelled academically by being named MWC Academic All Conference. Sophomore: Hougardy transferred to the University of Wyoming prior to the Spring 2007 semester from Rutgers University. During the spring, he contributed greatly to the Cowboy lineup. At the 2007 MWC Championships, he placed 14th in the 100 backstroke, 15th in the 200 backstroke and 16th in the 100 butterfly. He also led off the 200 medley relay. He earned his first letter award. High School: Hougardy was a two-time Idaho State Champion in the 100 backstroke as a junior and a senior. He was also a state champion as a senior in the 100 butterfly. Hougardy was elected as team captain as a high school senior. Personal: He was born September 13, 1986 in Grangeville, Idaho. His parents are Daralyn and Don Hougardy and he has one older brother Trevor. His major is Geology.
