High School: Kalms joins the Cowboys at mid-semester from St. Francis Xavier's High School in Hamilton, Australia and Novocastrian Swim Team. He had an excellent career as a member of Novocastrain being named its team captain for the 2011 season. In the New South Wales State Age Short Course Championships in 2011, he took first place in the 200 freestyle. He was also a national age group finalist in the 100 freestyle during the 2011 season.

Personal: Kalms was born on March 30, 1993 in Sydney, Australia. He is the son of Peter and Sylvia and has a younger sister Gabbie. He plans to major in economics while at UW.
