He helped the 200 medley relay team to a fourth-place finish at the Mountain West Championships. He and his 200 medley relay teammates posted the fastest time of the season for UW in the relay swimming a 1:28.89 at the conference championships. He also swam the 100 fly at the MW Championships, placing 15th. Rutecki won the 100 fly at the Nebraska-North Dakota triangular. He also earned his first letter award as a Cowboy. High School: Rutecki excelled as a swimmer at Juneau High School earning a letter award each year he was in school. He was named four-time All-America. Rutecki set the Alaska high school record in the 50 freestyle at 20.73. He also excelled in the classroom, being named to the honor roll four consecutive years. Personal: Rutecki was born on Sept. 30, 1992 in Juneau, Alaska. He is the son of Tom and Mary, and has two siblings, Jenna and Sam. He is majoring in engineering at UW.
