As a freshman, Young came in and helped the Cowgirls roster greatly and was a MWC

All Conference selection. In her individual events, and in relays, she set two fastest times in UW history. At the 2008 MWC Championships, Young finished second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.21 which is now the fastest in school history. She was also a member of the 400 medley relay team that was fourth at conference, but is the fastest time at Wyoming, and fifth fastest in MWC history. Young also moved into second all time in the 200 IM with a tenth place finish at conference. Not only did Young have a successful season in the pool, she also did in the classroom. She was named to the Academic All Conference team, and recieved the Scholar Athelte Award.

High School: Young, a high school All-American in the 100 breaststroke her junior and senior season, had a very distinguished career at John H. Pitman High School. She won the Central California Conference 100 breaststroke title as a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior and set the CCC record in the event as a senior. Her junior and senior year, she set the CCC record in the 200 IM with a first place finish. She was an all-league selection as a sophomore, junior and senior. She was the John H. Pitman MVP four times and holds their record in the 100 butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle as well as the 200 IM and freestyle. She helped lead Pitman High to a Nor-Cal Relay Championship as a senior, the Stanislaus County Championship as a senior and the CCC Championship as a junior and senior. Academically, she was a CCC All-Academic, a Sierra Nevada Scholar Athlete and a Sac-Joaquin Section Scholar Athlete.

Personal: She was born on May 16, 1989 in Alameda, Calif. She is the daughter of Emy and Roger and has a younger sister, Stephanie. She is majoring in mechanical engineering.

Top Times in High School: 100 breast-1:02.90; 200 IM-2:05.14; 200 breast-2:19.34; 100 fly-59.34.
