LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming swimming and diving teams competed in their annual pentathlon meet Friday afternoon at Corbett Pool. The meet consisted of each swimmer competing in five events--100 back, 100 breast, 100 fly, 100 IM and the 100 free. The winner was determined by adding up the times of each event.

Senior Buddy Boysen won the men's race with a combined time of 4:35.74. Boysen recorded the fastest time in the back (53.86) and the fly (50.97).

Sophomore Jake Weidert placed second with a five event time of 4:36.10. Weidert swam the fastest time in the Im (55.35). Sophomore Damian Storz finished third in the overall standings with a combined time of 4:39.89.

Auburn transfer Mabry Fiddler paced all Cowgirl swimmers, winning the pentathlon with a combined time of 5:14.12. Fiddler just edged junior Jennifer Schurz, who placed second with a time of 5:14.92. Sophomore Allison Schmid took third with a combined time of 5:20.13.

"I was pleased with the way the team swam today," UW head coach Tom Johnson said. "It was a very competitive race on both the men's and women's sides, everyone swam extremely hard. The whole point of this meet was to give us an idea of what people we should put in our relay teams."
