LARAMIE, Wyo. - Following their final weekend of dual action, the Wyoming swimming and diving team swept all four Mountain West Conference athlete of the week honors on Wednesday. Eli Bell and Kyle Bogner were named the MWC Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, while Maggie Bach and Stephanie Ortiz were named the Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week. This was the first weekly honor for all four UW athletes.

Bell, a junior from Greeley, Colo., helped the Cowboys to a conference dual meet victory over Air Force last Saturday. Bell won two individual events, contributed to a relay victory and a second-place relay finish. He won the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle races with respective times of 46.46 and 1:41.35. Bell also led off the first-place finishing 400 freestyle relay squad that swam a time of 3:07.34. He also anchored the 200 medley relay team that placed second with a time of 1:34.27.

Bogner, a freshman from Centennial, Colo., won the one-meter diving event against Air Force with a score of 323.25. His zone qualifying score is the second highest in the MWC this season and ranks third all-time in the Wyoming record books. Bogner also finished fourth in the three-meter dive with a score of 281.48. With Bogner's award this week, the Cowboy divers won the final four MWC Diver of the Week awards this season.

Bach, a sophomore who hails from Lincoln, Neb., won all four events she swam in UW's win over Colorado State last Friday. She began the meet by swimming on the first-place 200 medley relay team as it touched the wall in a Corbett Pool record time of 1:46.53. She then won the 200 butterfly (2:10.57) and added a victory in the 100 butterfly (58.30). Finally, Bach anchored the first-place 200 freestyle relay team that finished in 1:37.55. In the Cowgirls win over Air Force last Saturday, she won the 100 butterfly (58.90) and placed second in the 50 freestyle (25.52). She also contributed to second-place finishes by the Cowgirl 200 medley (1:51.43) and 400 freestyle relay teams (3:48.56).

Ortiz, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colo., won all four diving events against Colorado State and Air Force. Against the Rams, she won the one-meter with a score of 267.82 and the three-meter event with a mark of 282.30. Against Air Force, Ortiz won the one-meter dive with a season-best score of 268.95 and the three-meter event with a score of 288.08. All four of her scores were above the NCAA Zone Qualifying standard.
