LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming head swimming and diving coach Tom Johnson announced today the signing of two student-athletes to national letters of intent to attend the University of Wyoming in the fall of 2000. Here are the signees:

Jon McNeely, Loveland, Colo.:

A Junior National qualifier in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 IM from Loveland High School. McNeely was the Colorado High School State Champion in the 100 Breaststroke and placed third in the 200 IM in 1999. He is a member of the Loveland Swim Club, which is coached by Tom Hewson. McNeely was coached in high school by Marty Jaskens. An excellent student, he has been a member of the honor roll and an Academic All-State selection. Jon is the son of David and Patty McNeely. He chose Wyoming over other schools including Arizona State and Utah.

"Jon will bring us depth in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke, along with the 200 and 400 IM's," said Johnson. "He should really develop into one of the top breaststrokers in the conference, and we are looking forward to having him here next fall."

Chad Seymour, Littleton, Colo.:

A Junior National qualifier in three events from Arapahoe High School in Littleton, Colo. In 1999, he placed seventh in the 200 Freestyle and third in the 500 Freestyle at the Colorado State Championships. Seymour also holds the school record in the 500 Freestyle. He is a member of the Greenwood Tiger Sharks Swim Club, which is coached by Jorge Fernandez. Seymour was coached in high school by Mike Richmond. A strong student academically, he has been a member of the honor roll. Chad is the son of Brad and Mellissa Seymour. He chose Wyoming over several other schools including Utah, UNLV, Easter Michigan and Florida Atlantic.

"Chad along with Jarod Kintz, who we signed in the fall, should be a great duo training together everyday," Johnson said. "He really has the opportunity to one of the top three distance freeystylers in the Mountain West Conference. Chad is a tremendous worker and motivates everyone around him."
