2010-11... Hughes was the top finisher for the Cowgirls in every cross country event in the fall of 2011. She finished 17th at the MW Championships and 34th in the Mountain Region competition. Hughes also was the track team's top 3,000-meter steeplechase performer (11:56.98). 2009-10... Hughes's best finish came at the Rocky Mountain Shootout in Boulder, Colo., where she came across the finish line in 28th with a mark of 23:08 in the 5.8K. Despite missing one of the five races, she finished 39th in the MWC Championships with a time of 23:30 in the 6K. She also set the top time for the Cowgirls with a time of 11:11.10 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. High School... Hughes was a four-year letterwinner in basketball, cross country and track and field. During her cross country career, she was selected All-Conference and All-State all four years. She added wins at the state championship in her freshman and senior year. While on the track, she was the 1- and 2-mile state champion her senior year, as well as being named to the All-Conference and All-State team all four years. She also was on the honor roll her entire high school career, as well as the National Honor Society for three years. Personal... Hughes was born in Sidney, Neb., to her parents Linda and Kirk Hughes.
