Shannon had a great outdoor season while red shirting 2005-06. She finished in fifith place at the prestigious Modesto Relays hitting a personal record of 197' 10" in the hammer throw. Popp also became the ninth best 20lb weight thrower in UW history indoors. Shannon looks to contend for the conference titles in the 20lb and Hammer throw events this season. Popp also looks to qualify and compete for All-American honors at the NCAA Championships. A transfer from Moorpark Junior College, Popp was initially at Kansas State where she placed fourth in the hammer throw and fifth in the 20-pound weight throw at the Big 12 Championships.
