Fifty-one Mountain West Conference student-athletes and five MWC relay teams have been named to their respective All-Region teams, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced yesterday. To be considered All-Region, the student-athlete must place in the top eight of his or her respective event at an NCAA Regional meet.

The University of Wyoming had four members named to the All-Region team, Kate Burton and Gretchen Johnson for the women and Jeremiah James and Alan John for the men. Burton placed second in the hammer throw and qualified for the NCAA Championships while Johnson placed eighth in the 5,000-meter run. For the Cowboys, two eighth place finishes in the hammer throw for John and in the long jump for James.

At the Midwest Regional held in Lincoln, Neb., last weekend, 16 male and 13 female track and field athletes competing for Air Force, Colorado State, New Mexico, TCU and Wyoming displayed individual performances worthy of the All-Region accolade.

The NCAA Championship meet will be held June 11-14 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Below is a list of UW student-athletes earning All-Region honors.
