2010-11... Banks was a consistent scorer for the UW men, providing several solid finishes in the fourth position for Pokes. His efforts yielded his first letter as a Cowboy. His best finishes of the season came at the Woody Greeno Invite and the Rocky Mountain Shootout, in which he crossed the finish line in 22nd and 49th, respectively. He also finished 109th out of 470 runners in the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., considered one of the top races in the nation. In the postseason, he grabbed the 62nd position in the NCAA Mountain Region race, a mark he no doubt will want to improve upon this season. Banks also contributed to the Cowboy track squad, lending his talents to the 1,500-meter run. He also was one of the team's top 3,000-meter steeplechase runners.

Junior College... Banks has experience representing his country in international competition in cross country and in mountain running. He is the current U-19 New Zealand cross country champion as well as placing second in 2008 and third in 2007. Mike is a transfer student from the University of Auckland.

Personal... Banks was born Oct. 9 in Auckland, New Zealand. He is the son of Greg and Joan Banks. He plans to study marketing.
