Brooke Hughes

2010-11... Brooke won her second letter in cross country as a sophomore. She ran in all six of the team's events throughout the season, including the two postseason races at the Mountain West Championships and the NCAA Mountain Regional. She finished 37th out of 210 runners at the Woody Greeno Invite, and was 42nd at the Rocky Mountain Shootout. Brooke finished 54th at the MW Championships, a mark she no doubt will work to improve upon this season. She's a leader on a very young team, and her experience will be invaluable to the newcomers. She also was the track team's top 3,000-meter steeplechase performer in outdoor track (11:56.98).

2009-10... Brooke's best finish came at the Rocky Mountain Shootout in Boulder, Colo., where she came across the finish line in 28th with a mark of 23:08 in the 5.8K. Despite missing one of the five races, she finished 39th in the MWC Championships with a time of 23:30 in the 6K. She also set the top time for the Cowgirls with a time of 11:11.10 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

High School... Brooke was a four-year letterwinner in basketball, cross country and track and field. During her cross country career, she was selected All-Conference and All-State all four years. She added wins at the state championship in her freshman and senior year. While on the track, she was the 1- and 2-mile state champion her senior year, as well as being named to the All-Conference and All-State team all four years. She also was on the honor roll her entire high school career, as well as the National Honor Society for three years.

Personal... Brooke was born in Sidney, Neb., to her parents Linda and Kirk Hughes. She is studying kinesiology while at UW.
