Zans got his freshman season started on a roll, finishing in the top 10 in his first two collegiate races. As the season went on, his ability became evident. He often was in contention for the team's second spot at the finish line, and he finished up the season with four top-50 finishes. He was 16th at the MW Championships, and earned conference Freshman of the Year honors. He also was a pleasant surprise for the Cowboy track team, qualifying for the NCAA Preliminary in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He finished 23rd overall and ninth in his heat with a time of 9:02.44. High School... Zans won two titles at the 2010 Wyoming State Indoor Championships in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races. He also competed in the nationally renowned Simplot Games, where he finished third overall and was the top Wyoming finalist in the 3,200-meter event. Personal...
