COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Wyoming freshman Emily Higgins and TCU freshman Festus Kigen have been selected as the Mountain West Conference women's and men's cross country athletes of the week.

Higgins finished fourth out of 241 runners at the Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday. The Deaver, Wyoming, native, crossed the finish line in 22:32.70 in the women's 6K event as the Cowgirls finished third in the University Division and fifth overall.

Kigen, from Eldoret, Kenya, won the individual title at the Texas A&M Invitational last weekend in College Station, Texas. He topped the field of 104 runners with a time of 25:16 in the men's 7,942 meter race, leading the Horned Frogs to a third place team finish.
