Cary Cochran begins his second season as a student assistant with the University of Wyoming Basketball program. Cochran came to Wyoming from the University of Nebraska where he was a four-year letterman and a three-year starter. He holds several NU records for three-point shooting, and he led the nation in free-throw percentage his senior season. He completed his college career in the 2001-02 season. Outside of basketball, he represented the Cornhusker Athletics Department at booster club events, civic organization meetings and other school functions. He was also selected to represent the Big 12 Conference on the Student Basketball Council sponsored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). After completing his college eligibility, Cochran briefly played professionally for the Magic City Snowbears of Minot, N.D., where he was selected to the leagues's All-Star team. Cochran was an outstanding high school player at Tri-Center High School in Neola, Iowa. He led his high school team to a 76-17 (.817) record in four seasons, and led the state of Iowa in scoring. In 2002, Cochran earned his bachelor of arts degree in communication studies from the University of Nebraska. He also had minors in history and sociology. |
