2004-05 (Redshirt Freshman): Josh Dees enters his second season as a member of the Cowboy Basketball program. Dees was limited somewhat in the fall of 2004 due to tendinitis in his knees. A true student of the game, he is an extremely intelligent player, who grew up the son of a coach. That coach is former Cowboy head coach Benny Dees. An outstanding student, Dees earned a perfect 4.00 grade-point average his freshman season at the University of Wyoming.

"In Josh (Dees), we have a young man who has as much love for Cowboy Basketball as anyone," said UW head coach Steve McClain. "Josh is an outstanding individual, who will make our team better by his work ethic, his knowledge of the game and his desire to succeed.

"He is in an outstanding competitor, who excels on the defensive end of the court. We are lucky to have him in our program."

2003-04 (Freshman): Dees came to Wyoming from Vidalia, Ga. While he came to Wyoming all the way from Georgia, he was no stranger to Wyoming Basketball. Dees grew up around Cowboy hoops, as his father, Benny Dees, was head coach at Wyoming for six seasons from the 1987-88 season through the 1992-93 campaign. The younger Dees provides the Cowboys with a player who has a passion for the game.

High School/Personal: Dees was a multi-sport athlete at Toombs County High School in Lyons, Ga. He was a member of the basketball and golf teams throughout his high school career. As a senior in 2002-03, Dees helped lead Toombs County to the Regional Championship and a 23-4 record. He was selected to the All-Region team, and was named the Defensive Player of the Year. His high school coach was Donnie Arrington.

Dees also was an outstanding student at Toombs County High School. He served as Senior Class President, and was the salutatorian of his senior class. Dees also was the Literary Essay Region Champion in 2002 and placed fifth at the State Literary competition. He earned faculty honor roll throughout his high school career.

Born Nov. 19, 1984, he is the son of Nancy and Benny Dees. Josh Dees comes by his love of basketball very honestly. In addition to serving as the head coach at Wyoming, his father, Benny, also lettered in both basketball (1958) and baseball (1957-58) at UW. He posted a six-year coaching record of 104-77 (.575) at Wyoming. Other coaching jobs the elder Dees held were: head-coaching positions at New Orleans and Western Carolina; and assistant-coaching positions at Alabama, Georgia Tech and Western Kentucky. Josh's mother, Nancy, was a women's basketball coach at West Georgia. Josh Dees is majoring in political science.
