2008-09: With one year of experience at Wyoming, Tyson Johnson enters his senior season poised to make major contributions. During the second half of last season, Johnson improved drastically and will enter his senior year with a great deal of confidence. He is very talented around the basket and may be the Cowboys' best offensive threat inside. He is in the best shape of his career and looks to have a memorable senior year.

2007-08: Johnson enjoyed a very productive junior season, his first as a Cowboy. His production increased drastically during the second half of the season and especially with the beginning of MWC play. Johnson entered UW's game at Utah on Jan. 30 averaging 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.4 minutes a game. From the Utah game on, he averaged 12.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 27.6 minutes a game. He scored in double figures in 10 of the final 12 games of the season. Johnson's best scoring performances of the season came during conference play -- at BYU on March 5 (20 points), vs. San Diego State on Feb. 19 (18 points), at Colorado State on Feb. 27 (17 points) and vs. UNLV on Feb. 23 (16 points). He pulled down nine rebounds at BYU on March 5, 2008, for a Wyoming career high.

Junior College: Johnson averaged 20.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game his sophomore season at Blinn. He earned Second Team All-Region XIV honors as a sophomore in the 2006-07 season, while ranking No. 2 in Region XIV in scoring and No. 3 in rebounding. Johnson shot 59.5 percent from the field (135 of 227) to rank No. 6 in the region statistics, and he converted 82.2 percent of his free throws (83 of 101) to rank No. 2 in that category in Region XIV. An outstanding scorer both inside and from the perimeter, Johnson was successful on 46.2 percent of his three-point attempts, making 24 of 52 threes. The New York native was also named Region XIV Player of the Week once, averaging 25.0 points and 18.5 rebounds for the week he was honored. He was elected a team captain his sophomore season. Johnson's head coach at Blinn was Steve Spurlin.

High School/Personal: As a high school student, he played at St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, N.Y., earning All-Long Island honors three consecutive seasons. While at St. Mary's, he helped lead his team to a combined 84-7 (.923) record over three seasons, including a 31-1 record his senior campaign. He averaged 19 points and seven rebounds, while earning First Team All-Long Island honors. He also was named an Honorable Mention McDonald's All-American, and played in the Jordan All-Star game. St. Mary's won the Catholic Schools State Championship his senior year, and was ranked No. 2 in the nation. As a junior his squad posted a 28-2 record, captured the Catholic Schools State Championship, and was ranked No. 14 in the country. His sophomore season, Johnson's team compiled a 25-4 mark, won the Catholic Schools Championship and was ranked No. 25 in the nation. He played for head coach Timothy Cleuss at St. Mary's High.

Born May 20, 1987, he is the son of Carrie and Sylvester Johnson. Other schools that recruited him were: Boise State, Florida State, Hawaii, Miami, Oklahoma State, St. Louis and UNLV. He is majoring in social science.
