2003-04 (Freshman): Abdullah Lawal is a 6' 1", 210-pound freshman guard from Plano, Texas, where he played at Plano Senior High School. A true point guard, Lawal led his team in assists and steals his last two years of high school. Lawal goes by the nickname "Bull", and that nickname fits him well as he is a quick, powerful young man. He will benefit his freshman season by having the opportunity to learn from one of the great point guards in Wyoming school history in senior Jay Straight.

"Abdullah is a young man we brought in to back up Jay Straight," said Steve McClain. "He showed us when he got here that he has great strength for a young player. He is learning everyday, and has demonstrated that he can be a capable backup point guard as a true freshman."

High School/Personal: Lawal was a three-year starter at Plano Senior. He was twice named First Team All-District, was All-County as a senior and was an Honorable Mention All-Region honoree in Texas. In addition to earning First Team All-District 9 in Class 5A by the Dallas Morning News, he was also named District 9-5A Defensive Player of the Year for the 2003-04 season. His senior year, he averaged 12.0 points per game, 6.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

Lawal led his high school team to three consecutive 20-win seasons, and three consecutive appearances in the Texas 5A State Playoffs. His junior year, Plano Senior advanced to the Final 8 in the state playoffs. In District games during his three years leading the Plano Senior Wildcats, Lawal's teams posted a 35-6 record in District play.

He holds his school's career records for steals and charges taken. Lawal led his team in assists both his junior and senior years, and led Plano Senior in steals all three years he started. His high school coach was Tom Inman.

Born Aug. 9, 1985, he is the son of Nike and James Rouseau. His older brother, Muhammed, wrestled at Oklahoma State. He has not yet decided on a college major.

He was also recruited by Colorado State, Southern Mississippi and Texas-Arlington.
