2005-06: Steve Leven enters his junior season as the Cowboys' second leading returning scorer from a year ago. He is also one of the Pokes' leading three-point shooters, having made 24 a year ago, while shooting 32.9 percent from the arc. Leven will be coming back from knee and ankle injuries that forced him to miss eight games last season. He started 12 of the 20 games he played in his sophomore season. Leven is expected to be a contender for a starting spot at either the shooting-guard or small-forward positions.

2004-05: He ranked fifth in scoring for the Cowboys, averaging 8.5 points per game, in his first season competing for Wyoming. Leven scored in double figures in seven of 20 games, and scored 20 or more twice -- against Princeton and Texas-Arlington. He suffered a tear of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee in practice on Dec. 2 prior to the Montana State game and missed five games before returning versus San Diego on Dec. 28. He also suffered an ankle sprain that caused him to miss the final two games of the season. Against Air Force, he hit a three-pointer with only 10 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 51-51 and force overtime. UW went on to win the game 67-63 in ot in Laramie on Feb. 5, 2005.

2003-04: Leven sat out of competition during the 2003-04 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules. While he wasn't able to compete for the Cowboys, he did have an opportunity to practice with the Pokes all season, and gain valuable experience learning the Wyoming system.

2002-03: Leven began his college career as a scholarship player at Auburn University in the fall of 2002. After one semester at Auburn, he chose to transfer and attended the University of Texas in the spring of 2003.

High School/Personal: Leven was selected to the All-Australia 16 and Under team and the All-Australia 18 and Under Team. He played his prep basketball in the United States at Laurinburg Institute in Laurinburg, N.C. While at Laurinburg Institute, Leven was ranked among the Top 75 high school players in the United States by such recruiting services as HoopScoop and PrepStar. Leven attended the Nike All-America Camp as a senior. Both his sophomore and junior years of high school, Leven participated in the A.B.C.D. All-Star Camp for underclassmen, and was a consensus Top 50 ranked player. He was invited to play in both the Jordan High School All-Star game and the Adidas Roundball Classic, but was unable to participate after suffering a sprained ankle at the conclusion of his senior season. During one month of his senior season, he averaged 40.1 points per game. His coach at Laurinburg Institute was Chris Chaney.

Born Oct. 15, 1982, he is the son of Valarie Leven. Out of high school, Leven was recruited by Auburn, California, Oklahoma State and Texas, among others. Leven is studying social science at UW.
