Jared Lewis was promoted to an assistant coach with the Cowboy basketball program on February 7, 2011. Lewis is in his third season as a member of the Wyoming basketball coaching staff. He served as the program's Director of Basketball Operations during the first half of the 2010-11 season, prior to being named as an assistant coach. After beginning his career at UW as a graduate assistant manager in 2008-09, Lewis was promoted to the Director of Player Relations prior to the 2009-10 season. He received his master's degree in instructional technology from UW in the spring of 2010. As the Director of Basketball Operations, Lewis' duties included coordinating travel for the Cowboys, supervising the summer camp series and working as an academic liaison. Lewis, a Denver, Colo. native, came to Wyoming after a tremendous collegiate athletic career. He began college at Northern Colorado where he was a two-time letterman in basketball and also excelled in track and field. He then transferred to Iowa State where he focused on track and field. As a Cyclone, he placed second in the 60-meter dash at the 2007 Big XII Indoor Championships and also anchored ISU's school record indoor 4x400 relay team. Lewis graduated from Iowa State with a double major in sociology and interdisciplinary studies in criminal justice. Lewis attended Montbello High School where he played basketball for Interim UW Head Coach Fred Langley. |
