2011-12: JayDee Luster enters his senior season at Wyoming with two years and 57 games of experience as the Cowboys' point guard. He is entering his fourth season at UW and his third season of being eligible to play, after transferring from New Mexico State. He enters his senior season with 222 career assists and needs just 51 more to enter Wyoming's all-time top-10 list.

Luster has a true point-guard mentality and is a pass-first shoot-second type of player. Comfortable with the ball in his hands, he has good court vision and can create matchup problems with his quickness on both ends of the floor. He is a tremendous leader and will be looked to for guidance as one of six seniors on the 2011-12 roster.

2010-11: Luster had a solid junior season for the Cowboys. He played in 28 games, with starts in 22 of those games. He missed two games due to injuries and one with illness. He had a career-high average of 5.9 points, while adding 3.4 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 0.9 steals a game. His assist average was the ninth highest in the MW and he also ranked seventh in assist to turnover ratio with a 1.75 to 1. He reached double figures in scoring five times--13 vs. North Florida (Nov. 18), 15 vs. Indiana State (Dec. 4), 10 vs. Denver (Dec. 14), a career-high 16 against Centenary (Dec. 20) and 10 at San Diego State (Jan. 29).

Luster played all 40 minutes against North Florida, marking the first time in his career he played an entire game. Despite playing point guard and standing 5-9, he led the Pokes in rebounding against both Western Illinois (6) and Colorado State (8). Those eight rebounds against CSU are a career high. He had a season-high eight assists and committed just one turnover against UNLV on Jan. 25.

2009-10: After sitting out the 2008-09 season due to transferring to Wyoming from New Mexico State, Luster became a major contributor to the Cowboys as a redshirt sophomore. He began the year by being named a team captain in May of 2009 before ever playing a game at UW. Luster was selected as the Pokes' starting point guard and responded with one of the best assist seasons in Wyoming history. He dished out 126 assists on the year, which matches the 10th most in a single season in school history. He ended the season with a 4.3 assists per game average, which was the fifth best in the MWC. He dished out 11 assists in UW's win over Peru State, which matches the fifth most in a single game in school history. He had nine assists or more in three different games.

Luster's best game of the season came in UW's 17-point come-from-behind win over San Diego State, his hometown school. He scored a career high 14 points (13 came in the second half) and had six assists in the win. He keyed the improbable comeback by knocking down three three pointers in the final 2:27, including the game winner with six seconds left.

Other great games for Luster included a then career high 13 points against Colorado State on Jan. 6, nine assists against New Mexico on Jan. 16 and nine points, nine assists, five steals and four rebounds against Pepperdine on Nov. 29. He had three perfect games--a game in which he hands out numerous assists and does not commit a turnover. Those perfect games included four assists and zero turnovers against CSU, 11 assists and no turnovers against Peru State and six assists and no turnovers against South Dakota.

Defensively, Luster averaged 1.2 steals a game and racked up two five-steal games.

Luster missed two games due to injuries: the opening round of the MWC Championship with a groin injury and the Akron game with a sprained ankle. He also battled though a separated shoulder that he suffered against Boise State.

2008-09: After transferring to Wyoming from New Mexico State University, Luster had to sit out of competition during the 2008-09 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules. He used his redshirt year and therefore did not lose a year of eligibility. He was able to practice with the Cowboys and participate in virtually all team activities, with the exception of games. He also led Wyoming's scout team in practice and was able to go against former Cowboy Brandon Ewing every day. That experience allowed Luster to greatly improve his game.

Before Wyoming: Luster, a native of San Diego, Calif., transferred to the University of Wyoming from New Mexico State where he spent the 2007-08 season. In his only season with the Aggies, Luster appeared in 27 games as a true freshman. On the year, he shot 40 percent from the field while dishing out 30 assists and recording nine steals.

Luster had a tremendous high school career at Hoover High School in San Diego, Calif., where he played for coach Ollie Goulston. At Hoover, Luster became San Diego's all-time assists and steals leader with 857 and 559, respectively.

Entering his senior season, Luster had hopes of joining Jason Kidd as only the second high school player in history to score 2,000 points, dish out 1,000 assists and record 500 steals in a career. However, Luster played in just 11 games before an injury forced him to the sidelines for the remainder of the season. Despite missing a majority of his senior season, his 559 career steals ranked him third all-time nationally and second in his home state of California. He also finished with 1,890 career points and 857 assists.

As Hoover's starting point guard for all four years of his career, Luster averaged 19.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5.8 steals and 4.3 rebounds. Prior to the injury his senior year, he was averaging 23.3 points, 7.7 assists and 7.1 steals.

In his time at Hoover High School, Luster received numerous career honors. He was selected as a Student Sports Magazine All-American three times, was a three-time All-State selection, was the Central League Player of the year twice and an All-Central League selection all four years of his career. As a junior, he helped lead Hoover to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) San Diego Championship, the school's first in 44 years. Hoover also posted a school record 28 wins and closed the season 28-6. In his career, Hoover won two Central League Championships and appeared in the CIF finals twice.

Personal: Luster was born on Jan. 14, 1989 in San Diego, Calif. He is the son of Laini Patton and has a younger sister. He is majoring in social science.
