2003-04 (Senior): Omoniyi Makun will provide a physical, athletic big man who can play either forward or center for the Cowboys. Makun is strong enough to play the post position, and is athletic enough to go out on the perimeter and guard a forward. In addition to his outstanding defensive skills, he provides the Cowboy squad with experience and maturity. A native of Lagos, Nigeria, he will turn 24 years old in January of 2004.

2002-03 (Junior): Makun started five games early in the 2002-03 season, while senior center Uche Nsonwu-Amadi recovered from a sprained knee. His best all-around game was versus Boise State, scoring eight points and pulling down seven rebounds. At Utah on March 8, 2003, he grabbed a career best nine rebounds. He averaged 1.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and had eight blocked shots on the season. Makun transferred to Wyoming from Vincennes Community College in Vincennes, Ind.

2001-02 (Sophomore at Vincennes Community College): Omoniyi Makun signed with the Cowboys on April 18, 2002. He is a highly intelligent player, as well as being a very athletic big man. Makun averaged 8.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.1 blocked shots and 1.8 assists per game his sophomore season at Vincennes Community College in Vincennes, Ind. He was the only player on his Vincennes team to start all 32 games as a sophomore. He led the team in blocked shots (68) and steals (41), and ranked second in rebounds (193) and field-goal percentage (.523). From three-point range, he converted 35.9 percent of his threes (14 of 39). Makun scored in double figures in 16 games during his sophomore season, and was selected his team's Defensive Most Valuable Player. Vincennes posted a 21-11 record during the 2001-02 season. The Trailblazers advanced to the Region 12 Championship Game before losing to Schoolcraft Community College by a score of 62-72. Schoolcraft went on to place third at the National Junior College Athletic Association Championship in Hutchinson, Kan. Vincennes was one of the nation's top defensive teams, allowing opponents only 73.8 points per game to rank No. 24 in the nation in points allowed. Over his two seasons at Vincennes, he helped lead the Trailblazers to a 47-16 (.746) record. Makun played for head coach Dan Sparks at Vincennes.

2000-01 (Freshman at Vincennes Community College): During his freshman season at Vincennes, Makun started 28 of 31 games, averaging 9.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.4 blocked shots and 1.5 assists per game. He hit 54.1 percent from the field, 58.8 percent from three (10 of 17) and converted 66.2 percent of his free throws. He scored a career high 22 points and pulled down a career best 13 rebounds versus Fashion Institute in the 2001 Rotary Shootout semifinals, earning him All-Tournament honors. Vincennes posted a 26-5 record his freshman season.

High School/Personal: Born Jan. 4, 1980, he is one of two children of Aduke and O.D.A. Makun. Goes by the nickname "Niyi", pronounced Knee. He is the only current Cowboy who is married. He and his wife Meranda were married on May 29, 2002. He attended high school at Ikija High School in Lagos, Nigeria. Makun was also recruited by UTEP, Wisconsin, Idaho and Central Florida. He plans on following in his father's footsteps, majoring in mechanical engineering.
