Game Action

2010-11: Amath M'Baye is a talented young man who has a lot of excitement surrounding him entering his sophomore season. As a true freshman he played a great deal of minutes down the stretch of the season, 19.9 a game in fact. After missing the first 10 games of the season, he improved with virtually every game he played. He is possibly Wyoming's most athletic player and along with his length, causes trouble for his opponents on both ends of the floor.

2009-10: After missing the first 10 games of the 2009-10 season due to an NCAA ruling on his amateurism, M'Baye improved greatly over the final 21 games of his true freshman season. On the year, he averaged 5.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game. However, over UW's last 11 games of the season he averaged 7.5 points a game. He scored in double figures four times during the season--14 at home against TCU, 13 at UNLV, 11 at Air Force and 10 at home against UNLV. One of his best games of the season came at UNLV when he scored 13 points, had six rebounds and played a career high 31 minutes. In terms of scoring alone, his best game of the season came on Feb. 13 against TCU when he scored a career high 14 points. He blocked a career high five shots at Utah on Feb. 27, while also scoring seven points and pulling down six rebounds. He had a career high eight rebounds at New Mexico on Feb. 17. He played his first college game on Dec. 20 as the Pokes defeated South Dakota.

Before Wyoming: M'Baye came to the University of Wyoming from Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, Calif., where he spent the 2008-09 season.

During the summer of 2009, M'Baye played on the U20 French National Team. That team won the silver medal at the U20 European Championships.

Prior to making the trip to America and Stoneridge Prep, M'Baye spent the summer of 2008 playing on two elite teams. He played on both the Africa Adidas Nations Team as well as the French Hoops AAU team. With the Africa Adidas Nations Team, he averaged 14 points and six rebounds a game. With the French Hoops AAU team, he averaged 15 points and six rebounds a game.

M'Baye is one of three current Cowboys who played at Stoneridge Prep. He joins Arthur Bouëdo and Djibril Thiam. He was coached at Stoneridge by Babacar Sy.

Personal: M'Baye's mother is Dominique Ba and his father is Daour M'Baye. He was born on December 14, 1989. He is majoring in international studies. M'Baye can speak three languages, English, French and Wolof (a native language from Senegal).
