2003-04 (Senior): David Rottinghaus entered his senior season attempting to overcome a injury to his left leg. Rottinghaus was unable to practice for most of the preseason due to a stress reaction in his left leg. The injury is at the top of the tibia, directly below his kneecap area. Doctors prescribed rest for the stress reaction, and so Rottinghaus began the fall on crutches. It is hoped that by the start of the season, he will be back practicing with the Cowboys. Rottinghaus' experience is very valuable to the Pokes, as is his fiery, emotional leadership. He has played in 81 of 93 career games during the past three seasons, including starting 33 games. A year ago, Rottinghaus started 22 of Wyoming's 32 games, moving into the starting lineup after preseason All-American Marcus Bailey went down for the season with a knee injury. If his injury prevents him from playing this season, he does still have a redshirt year available to him, as he has never redshirted during his time at UW.

2002-03 (Junior): Rottinghaus started at the small forward spot for the Cowboys in 22 of 32 games, and averaged 20.7 minutes played per game. He took over the role of former two-time All-Mountain West Conference performer Marcus Bailey after Bailey's season was ended against South Carolina due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in a knee. Rottinghaus averaged 6.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game as a junior. He scored a season high 14 points at San Diego State on Feb. 3, 2003. In nine games during the season, he scored in double figures -- five of those double-figure scoring games came in Mountain West Conference games. Rottinghaus began the MWC schedule scoring in double figures in each of the first three conference contests -- 12 vs. New Mexico, 11 against Air Force and 10 at Colorado State. He led UW in scoring vs. Air Force on Jan. 20 with 11 points. He pulled down a career best seven rebounds against Colorado State on Jan. 25, 2003, a game in which he also played a career high 35 minutes. One of Rottinghaus' most complete games came in the season finale at North Carolina. In that NIT Second Round game against the Tar Heels, Rottinghaus scored 12 points, grabbed three rebounds and handed out four assists in 27 minutes.

2001-02 (Sophomore): Rottinghaus played some of his best basketball down the stretch of the 2001-02 season. He played 14 minutes at New Mexico on Feb. 25, 2002, and saw 12 minutes of playing time versus BYU in the final homestand of the season. Against Utah in the final regular-season game of the 2001-02 season, Rottinghaus gave the Cowboys a big lift off the bench. He came up with a career high three steals, while scoring four points and grabbing two rebounds in eight minutes of play -- all in the first half. That contribution helped Wyoming clinch the 2002 Mountain West Conference title outright. In the Mountain West Conference Tournament, Rottinghaus played a season high 24 minutes vs. San Diego State, scoring four points and pulling down three rebounds. For the season, he averaged 1.2 points, 1.2 rebounds and 7.4 minutes per game.

2000-01 (Freshman): Rottinghaus averaged 3.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 11.4 minutes per game as a true freshman. He scored a personal best 16 points at LSU on Jan. 3, 2001. He also pulled down a career best six rebounds versus LSU. Rottinghaus started 11 consecutive games, beginning Jan. 8, 2001, at Utah. He helped lead the Cowboys to a 7-4 record in those 11 starts. Rottinghaus was also effective handling the ball, averaging 1.38 assists for every one turnover committed.

High School/Personal: A First Team All-State selection in Iowa as a senior, his senior season he averaged 29.2 points per game, eight rebounds and three assists. He set school records for most points in a season (583), most points in a game (46) and most threes in a game (10). He led Charles City High School to its second consecutive Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) championship and a 17-3 record, advancing to the District Finals. His efforts earned him First Team Class 3A All-State honors.

Charles City posted a 16-5 record in Rottinghaus' junior season, while he was a Second Team All-State selection. Rottinghaus was the NEIC Most Valuable Player both his junior and senior seasons. He was rated the No. 17 best small forward in the Midwest and the No. 75 overall player in the Midwest by MidWestHoops.com. Doug Carr of Rivals.com ranked Rottinghaus in the Top 100 high-school seniors -- at No. 91. Rottinghaus also played for the Martin Brothers Select AAU Team that finished ninth at the AAU National Championships. He teamed with current UW teammate Alex Dunn on the Martin Brothers team. In addition to basketball, he played baseball, and was a member of the student council. He was coached in high school by Todd Forsyth.

Born Aug. 10, 1981, he is the son of Margo and Paul Rottinghaus. He has two sisters, Lindsay and Carolyn. Rottinghaus was also recruited by Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State and Notre Dame. Rottinghaus is studying finance at Wyoming.
