2009-10: After sitting out of competition in 2008-09 to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, Boubacar Sylla is ready to take the floor for the Wyoming Cowboys. After struggling with a stress fracture in his foot during his freshman season at Auburn, Sylla is healthy entering the 2009-10 season. Standing 7 feet, 2 inches, he is the tallest player in Wyoming basketball history. He is also extremely long and has a 7'5" wingspan. For someone of his size, he has great hands and is surprisingly mobile. He has a long career at UW ahead of him, as he will be only a redshirt sophomore this season.

2008-09: Sylla sat out of competition to satisfy NCAA transfer rules. That time off game him the opportunity to recover from surgery on his left foot, which was performed during the summer of 2008, to a repair a stress fracture. He was able to return to the floor and begin practicing with the Cowboys during the conference season. He was able to learn the Cowboys' system and participate in numerous team activities. He used a redshirt year and therefore did not lose a year of eligibility.

Before Wyoming: Sylla transferred to the University of Wyoming from Auburn University, where he spent his freshman year of 2007-08.

Sylla was a highly sought after player coming out of Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, Calif. In addition to Auburn, he was also recruited by LSU and USC.

Sylla saw only limited action at Auburn in his freshman season, playing in three games.

He played on a Stoneridge Prep team that was ranked No. 14 in the nation among all prep schools. That team had seven individuals earn NCAA Division I scholarships.

Personal: A native of Paris, France, Sylla completed his high school education in Paris before attending Stoneridge Prep. Born July 18, 1986, he is the eldest child of Mamadou and Oumou Sylla. He has five brothers and three sisters. In addition to basketball, he also played soccer as a youth. He speaks three languages -- English, French and Bambara, which is his native African language. He is majoring in international studies.
