He averaged 12.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks in 32 starts to rank in the top 10 of six MW categories. He led the league in blocks and field goal percentage (56.0), while ranking ninth in scoring and sixth in rebounds. He also ranked fourth in defensive rebounds (5.4) and 10th in free throw percentage (71.4). He scored in double figures in a team-high 22 games and notched six double-doubles, including four in the last six games of the season. He topped the 20-point mark in four games. His best performance of the season was 32 points, 14 rebounds, two steals and a block against Colorado State on Jan. 21 to earn MW Player of the Week. He also scored more than 20 against TCU twice and North Dakota State once. He had two games with four blocks during the season and five games with three steals, while making a team-high 155 field goals and 100 free throws. 2010-11: Washington used a redshirt year and was able to practice with the team all season and participate in most team activities. Before Wyoming: Washington played for the USC Trojans during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. During his freshman season of 2008-09, the Trojans made a late-season run and won the Pac-10 Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. They defeated Boston College, 69-55, in the first round but fell to Michigan State, 74-69, in the second round. In that loss to Michigan State, Washington started the game, scored 10 points and had seven rebounds. Washington played in 30 games and started 13 as a freshman. He played his best basketball of the season during the first 10 games, before a sprained left ankle on Dec. 22 forced him to miss five games. Prior to the injury, Washington was averaging 9.8 points and 6.7 rebounds a game. Following the injury, his averages fell to 4.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He scored a season-high 17 points against North Dakota State on Dec. 20 and had a season-high 12 rebounds vs. Chattanooga on Nov. 21. USC finished 22-13 overall and 9-9 in the Pac-10 in 2008-09. As a sophomore in 2009-10, Washington played in 20 games and averaged 6.2 points and 4.4 rebounds a game. He scored a season-high 11 points at Oregon State on Jan. 28 and posted a season-high eight rebounds three times. The Trojans finished 16-14 overall and 10-8 in the Pac-10. Washington, a native of Lake Charles, La., attended Washington/Marion Magnet High School. During his senior season he averaged 22.0 points and 13.0 rebounds a game. He garnered Louisiana All-State honors as both a junior and senior. HoopScoop ranked him as the No. 54 recruit in the nation in the 2007 class. He led his high school to the Louisiana State Final as a senior. His high school coach was Mack Guillory. Personal: Washington was born on July 25, 1988 in Lake Charles, La. He is the son of Jacqueline Francois Washington. He has three siblings, Aishia, Charles and Marlon. He is majoring in sociology. |
