"He has brought a tremendous amount of experience to this position. I have watched Leroy's career closely through the years, and I have a great deal of respect for him. I really like the fact that he is familiar with this part of the country, having gone to school in Montana. We feel very fortunate to have him in our program." "Having played in this part of the country during my college career, I understand the basketball tradition of this school," said Washington. "There is a great commitment to basketball at Wyoming. This is a program on the rise, and it's great to be a part of it." Before his four-year coaching tenure at Oregon State, Washington coached five years at his alma mater, the University of Montana, from the 1991-92 season through the 1995-96 campaign.
