2004-05 (Senior): Jerry Webb is one of only four seniors and four lettermen who return for the Cowboys this season. His enthusiastic, unselfish style of play, combined with his infectious smile, have made Webb a fan favorite during his time at Wyoming. Webb will provide the Cowboys a great deal of flexibility as he is capable of playing both the shooting guard and small forward positions. A hard worker on the court, Webb will challenge for increased playing time in his final season. His work ethic will also make his teammates better. 2003-04 (Redshirt Junior): Webb completed his first season competing for the Cowboys after transferring from Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyo. For the season, Webb averaged 5.7 minutes per game, 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds. In a January game that seemed like it was written by a Hollywood screenwriter, Webb received his opportunity to shine. The date was Jan. 26, 2004, and the Cowboys were hosting San Diego State. Wyoming started slow and trailed by as many as 13 in the first half. With 4:57 to go in the first period and the Pokes down by nine, at 17-26, Webb entered the game. He proceeded to score 10 points in four minutes on way to a career high 13 for the game. He also grabbed five rebounds on the night, and sparked Wyoming to a come-from-behind 79-71 victory. Webb played in 21 of Wyoming's 28 games during the season. He scored in eight of 28 games during the 2003-04 season, including one double-figure outing -- 13 points versus San Diego State in Laramie. He also scored five points vs. Tennessee State, five at New Mexico and four at Air Force. In four different games, he played double-figure minutes -- 17 against Norfolk State, 13 vs. Tennessee State, 12 against San Diego State and 17 at Air Force. Twice he grabbed a career high five rebounds -- vs. Norfolk State and against San Diego State. 2002-03 (Junior): Webb attended UW but had to sit out of competition while he earned his academic eligibility. Webb attended UW the entire 2002-03 academic year and successfully earned his eligibility. He originally signed with Wyoming during the early signing period in the fall of 2001 while at Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyo. 2001-02 (Sophomore): As a sophomore at Sheridan College, Webb was named an Honorable Mention NJCAA All-American, and was a First Team All-Region IX selection. He helped lead Sheridan College to the 2002 Region IX Championship and the NJCAA National Tournament. In the 2002 Region IX Tournament, Webb averaged 17.7 points per game and earned All-Tournament honors. He was averaging 21.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game at the time he signed with Wyoming in the fall of 2001. He scored 31 points in a victory over Southern Idaho as a sophomore. Webb was coached by Brian Marso at Sheridan College. 2000-01 (Freshman): As a freshman in 2000-01, Webb averaged 13.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game at Sheridan. He averaged 19 points per game in conference play. Webb was part of a Sheridan squad that posted a 26-7 record and a No. 11 national ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Sheridan also led Region IX of the NJCAA in scoring, averaging 91.7 points per game, and won the Wyoming Conference title with a 5-1 mark. High School/Personal: In high school, Webb attended St. Paul Central High School in St. Paul, Minn. He earned Nike High School All-America honors, was a First Team All-State selection and an All-City honoree. He averaged 23 points and five rebounds per game his senior year of high school, and led St. Paul Central to a conference championship. His high school coach was Steve Lasley. Born Nov. 27, 1981, Webb is the son of Quincella and the late Robert Webb. He was also recruited by Cincinnati, DePaul, Minnesota, UNLV and Texas. He is majoring in social science. |
