LARAMIE, Wyo. -

A much anticipated 2001-2002 Wyoming Cowboy basketball season opened Saturday, Nov. 3, with a convincing 130-67 exhibition victory over the Seattle Stars.

Seven Cowboys scored in double-figures led by senior forward Josh Davis' 23. Senior Ugo Udezue had a double-double scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Newcomers Donta Richardson and Jason Straight had impressive debuts for the Pokes scoring 15 points each. Straight, who also had a team-high seven assists, started at the point guard position for the injured Chris McMillian. Other Cowboys in double-figures were Uche Nsonwu-Amadi (10), Marcus Bailey (13) and Brandon Dickerson (12).

Wyoming led 57-31 at the half before going on to outscore the Stars 73-36 in the second half. For the game the Cowboys shot 59 percent from the field (25-42) and 42 percent from the three-point line (5-12).

Antonio Manns led the Seattle Stars with 24 points.
