Box Score

COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina held Wyoming to less than 40 percent shooting from the field and made several critical baskets down the stretch to pull away from the Cowboys and win 78-67 Thursday night at Frank McGuire Arena.

The Cowboys (7-2) got 23 points from guard Marcus Bailey, but shot 35 percent from the field as a team.

South Carolina (7-2) was led by guard Jamel Bradley with 15 points and forward Chuck Eidson with 13.

South Carolina led by five points at the half, but with 8:25 to play, Wyoming had cut the lead to one.

From there, the Gamecocks went on a 10-4 run that put them ahead 65-48 with 4:11 to play, and put the pressure squarely on the Cowboys.

Wyoming's cold shooting continued, however, and South Carolina was just good enough at the foul line in the final six minutes (8-of-13) to put the game away.

South Carolina led 33-28 at the half, with both teams struggling to shoot the basketball.

Wyoming shot 31 percent from the field in the first half, while South Carolina shot 34 percent.

The Cowboys led 26-20 with 4:11 to play, matching their biggest lead of the half, but the Gamecocks closed the half on a 13-2 run.

Three-pointers from Bradley and David Ross were instrumental in South Carolina's late first-half surge.

Wyoming also had trouble holding onto the basketball in the first half, committing 11 turnovers.
