Oct. 15, 1999

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The University of Wyoming men's and women's basketball teams will be on display for the first time Friday night at the Arena-Auditorium as the 1999-2000 kicks off with “Midnight Mayhem”. Both the Cowboy and Cowgirl teams will be introduced to the crowd. Both teams will also participate in inter-squad scrimmages.

Midnight Mayhem was organized by efforts of the Wyoming Collegiate Athletic Council. The 12 member WCAC raised $10,000 to put on the event, which also includes a variety of activities for UW students.

The main event of the evening will be “Comedy Sports”, an improv comedy group from Kansas City, Mo. The comedy is similar to what is done on the television program “Who's Line is it Anyway”.

There will also be a slam-dunk contest and three-point shot contest with the contestants being students. Prizes to be given away to fans include rally towels, T-shirts, a semester's worth of free books and two trips to the Indiana-Wyoming basketball game in Bloomington, Ind.

Doors at the A-A open at 9 pm, the festivities begin at 9:30 pm. Admission is free to all.
