Wyoming's Bailey Selected as the MWC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Dec. 4, 2000 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming sophomore guard Marcus Bailey is the Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Cowboys (4-0) to three victories this past week. Bailey, a Cheyenne, Wyo. (East HS) product, averaged 19 points, 3.7 rebounds and shot 61 percent (17-of-28) from the field and 91 percent (21-of-23) from the free throw line in three games last week. In Wyoming's 70-55 win over Denver, Bailey shot 50 percent (6-for-12) from the field, collected 16 total points and three steals. In just 24 minutes vs. Creighton, he tallied 16 points after going 4-for-7 from the floor and hitting 7-of-8 from the charity stripe in the Cowboy's 78-74 victory. In Wyoming's first road game of the season vs. Montana State, Bailey posted career-highs for both points (25) and assists (5) after coming off the bench in the 77-62 win. He also hit 10-of-11 free throws to set new Mountain West Conference single-game sophomore records for both free throws made and free throw percentage (.909).
This is Bailey's first player of the week honor of his career.
