UW This Season: Tramaine Brown will give the Cowboy secondary added depth as the projected backup to returning starter Tashaun Gipson at field cornerback. Along with fellow senior defensive back T.J. Atwater, he gives the Cowboys two seniors in the secondary to add outstanding experience to a group of three returning starters. Brown is also a veteran special teams' performer, and is expected to be a significant contributor on several Cowboy special teams' units as a senior. 2008: Brown appeared in six games on defense and special teams as a redshirt junior in `08. He was one of five cornerbacks battling for playing time entering the spring following the graduation of senior corners Julius Stinson and Michael Medina. Brown performed well in spring, and was listed No. 2 at field cornerback behind fellow junior T.J. Atwater entering the fall of `08. 2007: Redshirted. Junior College: Brown was an All-Mission Conference selection at cornerback at Santa Ana Community College in 2006. He joined the Cowboy Football program in the summer of 2007. Brown ranked sixth on his Santa Ana team in tackles, with 37. He led his squad in interceptions with four, which he returned for 76 yards. He also broke up six other passes. An outstanding kick returner, Brown led Santa Ana in kickoff return yardage, returning 13 kickoffs for 227 yards and had a long return of 41 yards. He helped lead Santa Ana to a 7-4 overall record, playing for head coach Geoff Jones. Brown was also recruited out of junior college by Oregon State. High School: In high school, Brown was a football and track athlete at Savanna High School in Anaheim, Calif. He earned All-Conference honors in football at Savanna High where his high school coach was Roger Whalen. Personal: Born April 1, 1987, Brown is the son of Jeanette and Norman Brown. He and his wife Laura have one son, LaDainian. He is majoring in management. |
