UW This Season: Chris Cox will enter his senior season as the projected starter at tight end. An experienced receiver and blocker, he will give the Pokes a veteran performer, who can contribute in both the passing and running game. He has played in each of the past 24 consecutive games for UW, starting three.

2003: Cox shared the tight end duties with Aaron Robbins in 2003. Robbins has since moved to the defensive side of the ball for Wyoming to play defensive end. Cox caught three passes for 42 yards during his junior season. He made a spectacular catch for 32 yards against Air Force. Cox also had one reception each versus Kansas and Brigham Young.

2002: Cox played in all 12 games during the 2002 season. He was used mostly for his blocking ability. He caught the first pass of his career against New Mexico for 43 yards.

2001: A squad member for the Cowboys who saw limited action after returning from an LDS mission.

1999 and 2000: On LDS church mission.

1998: Redshirted.

High School: An Oklahoma All-District and All-State selection as a senior at Tulsa Union High School. Cox was selected to participate in the Texas vs. Oklahoma Oil Bowl, pitting the best seniors from each state against each other. Led Union High to an 8-3 record in Class 6A, the largest class in the state, and a first-round playoff berth. Played in a one-back offense for coach Bill Blankenship at Union High School. Described by his high school coach as a player who developed a great deal physically between his junior and senior years. He caught 11 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns as a senior. Also played basketball in high school. He was recruited by Arkansas, BYU, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

Personal: Born Oct. 8, 1979, in Cedar City, Utah. One of five children of Andrea and Richard Cox. He is majoring in physical education-teaching.
