UW This Season: C.R. Davis will be one of three running backs that should make the Cowboy running game a more effective weapon in 2004. An extremely intelligent player, he earned Academic All-Conference honors for the second consecutive year, and for the first time he achieved Academic All-District VII honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is a political science major, with plans to study law. Davis and first-year junior-college transfer Joseph Harris are listed No. 2 on the depth chart behind sophomore Ivan Harrison entering the fall. Davis has a slashing running style, and has also proven that he can be a productive receiver, catching three passes for 59 yards out of the backfield in 2003. 2003: Davis appeared in nine of 12 games for the Pokes his sophomore season. He ranked fourth on the team in rushing attempts and net yards, carrying the ball 14 times for 77 yards. He also caught three passes for 59 yards. Earned Academic All-Conference honors for the second consecutive year, and was selected an Academic All-District VII honoree for the first time. 2002: As a redshirt freshman, Davis saw action in all 11 games, gaining 34 yards on seven carries. He also was a regular on special teams, recording one tackle. Davis earned Mountain West Conference All-Academic honors for the first time in 2002. 2001: Redshirted. High School: Davis was a First Team All-State selection at running back at Moon Valley High School in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a two-time First Team All-Region performer and was a three-year starter for head coach Roger Britson. As a senior, he rushed for 1,856 yards and 22 touchdowns on 400 carries in 10 games. He holds three Arizona state single-game records: eight touchdowns in one game against Washington High School in a 66-30 victory; 50 points in one game; and 52 rushing attempts, which he did on three separate occasions. As a junior, he rushed for 1,100 yards and 15 touchdowns. He finished his high school career with 3,572 yards and 45 touchdowns. Davis was a team captain. He was named both his team's MVP and Most Inspirational Player. Davis competed in track where he ran a 10.7 100 and a 49.8 400. An outstanding student, he was a member of the National Honor Society and achieved honor roll status throughout high school with a 3.96 grade-point average. Davis was a three-year member of Moon Valley's student council. He was also recruited by Colorado State, Kansas, Stanford, Utah and UTEP, .
