UW This Season: Danny Dutmer enters his senior season No. 2 on the Cowboy depth chart at defensive tackle behind Second Team All-Conference performer John Fletcher. Dutmer will serve as Wyoming's long snapper on punts for his fourth consecutive season in `08. He will also share the snapping duties for field goals and extra points with sophomore offensive lineman Garrett King. 2007: Dutmer made a position switch from strongside linebacker (outside linebacker) to defensive tackle in the spring of 2007. He played in all 12 games on the season, and was credited with nine total tackles. 2006: Dutmer played in all 12 games for UW in 2006. He was credited with six total tackles -- five solos and one assist. The sophomore was a valuable member of the special teams as a long snapper. 2005: Dutmer's talents as a long snapper for punts led the Cowboy coaches to decide not to redshirt the true freshman and place him in the starting lineup. He did an excellent job snapping on punts, starting all 11 games at that position. He did not record any tackles in his freshman season. He earned his first varsity letter. High School: Dutmer achieved First Team All-State Class B, First Team All-District and was Second Team All-Nebraska for all classifications his senior season. A two-way player at York High School, Dutmer was both an outstanding tight end and defensive end. He recorded 60 tackles his senior season, including two sacks and 15 quarterback hurries. He also broke up two passes and forced one fumble. As a tight end, Dutmer caught 15 passes for 192 yards his senior campaign. His junior season, he was credited with 68 tackles, two sacks, three quarterback hurries and broke up four passes. Also as a junior, he caught 16 passes for 262 yards. He was elected a team captain his senior season. He also excelled in basketball and soccer, earning Honorable Mention All-State Class B honors in basketball as a both a junior and senior. He was an Honorable Mention All-State goalie in soccer. A four-year Honor Roll student, he achieved Academic All-State honors while in high school. He also served on the Student Advisory Board and received a President's Education Award. Dutmer was coached at York High School by head football coach Jerry Dunn. Personal: Born Sept. 22, 1986. The son of Kathy and Jim Dutmer. He comes from a very athletic family as his older sister Amy played basketball for four years at Kansas State, and his older brother Paul played football at Nebraska-Kearney. He was also recruited by Kansas State and Nebraska. He is majoring in finance. |
