UW This Season: Greg Genho moves back to tight end in 2009, after playing fullback as a junior. A tight end/H-back his first two years at Wyoming, Genho can be a dominating blocker one minute and an effective receiver the next. That should make him a good fit for Wyoming's new spread offense that heavily involves the tight ends in its passing game. 2008: Genho had six catches for 24 yards and one touchdown on the season. He also carried the ball four times for eight yards. His one touchdown of the season came in Wyoming's 13-7 road victory over Tennessee in Knoxville. Genho fit perfectly into the fullback position in `08. He concluded 2008 spring drills listed No. 1 on the depth chart at fullback/H-back. His first two seasons at UW, Genho played a combination of tight end and H-back. Genho's blocking skills made him a natural choice for the new position. In other formations, Genho was utilized like a tight end, so he still remained involved in the passing game. 2007: Genho was a valuable contributor both on offense and special teams in 2007. While he didn't have any receptions in `07, Genho was involved as a backup to Second Team All-MWC tight end/H-back Wade Betschart. Genho also played on several Cowboy special teams and was credited with 12 tackles on special teams. He played in all 12 games during the season. 2006: Genho played in six games as a redshirt freshman in `06. He didn't catch any passes, but he did play both on offense and special teams in his first year competing at the NCAA Division IA level. Earned his first varsity letter. 2005: Redshirted. High School: Greg Genho was selected a First Team All-State running back in Class 2A by both The Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News in the fall of 2004. He carried the ball 259 times for 1,771 yards and scored 25 touchdowns his senior season. As a junior, Genho rushed 216 times for 1,266 yards and scored 14 TDs. During his senior season, he also made 53 solo tackles and had 14 assists for 67 total tackles, including five quarterback sacks. Genho led Brush High School to the Semifinals of the Class 2A State Playoffs, defeating St. Mary's in the First Round and Roaring Fork in the Second Round before losing to eventual State Champion Faith Christian in the semifinals. Brush completed the season with a 9-3 record. His junior season, Brush posted a 9-2 record, and advanced to the state quarterfinals. He earned Second Team All-State honors as a junior. An outstanding three-sport athlete, he also participated in basketball and track and field. Genho was named to the honor roll throughout high school, and was a National Honor Society member all four years of high school. His high school football coach was Randy Dreitz. Personal: Born Aug. 28, 1986, he is the son of Misty and Robert Genho. He is majoring in geography. |
