UW This Season: David Gough will once again play a key role for the Wyoming Football program as the Pokes. No. 1 long snapper. Gough is entering his fourth season as the Cowboys' primary long snapper. He is also a reserve noseguard. 2003: Gough played in all 12 games for the Pokes in 2003. He was credited with three total tackles -- one solo tackle and two assists. 2002: Gough started at long snapper for the Cowboys for the second consecutive year. He was credited with four tackles on the season, primarily on special teams coverage. Earned his second varsity letter.. 2001: He earned his first varsity letter as Wyoming's long snapper. Played sparingly in his first season back after an LDS church mission. 1999 and 2000: On LDS church mission. 1998: Was a redshirt for the Cowboys. High School: A football, track and basketball letterman at Rapid City ( S.D.) Stevens High School. A two-time South Dakota All-State selection as a defensive lineman for head coach Mick Wysuph. A power lifter who holds the school record in the power clean at 280 pounds. Ran a 4.6 40-yard dash. During his junior and senior seasons, he accounted for 116 tackles, and set a school record with 30 quarterback sacks and 33 tackles for loss. Other schools who recruited him included BYU, Iowa and Nebraska. He was also a long snapper for punts and kickoffs. An accomplished track and field athlete as a thrower, long jumper and triple jumper. Personal: Born Jan. 4, 1980, in Wheatridge, Colo. He is married to the former Julie Markum. One of four sons of Pam and Rick Gough. His dad played football at the University of Northern Colorado. His older brother, Jim, threw the discus for BYU. Another brother, Steve, was a football player at North Dakota State. He is majoring in journalism. |
