UW This Season: Brandon Haugen is coming off a strong 2006 season as he begins his senior season as a Wyoming Cowboy in `07. The senior from Spokane, Wash., enjoyed his second consecutive season without suffering a serious injury in `06. He brings an outstanding blend of physical talent and intelligence to the field. Haugen is once again expected to backup Second Team All-Conference inside linebacker Ward Dobbs in 2007. In the summer of `07, Haugen married his fiancee Anna back in his home state of Washington.

2006: Haugen was credited with making 24 tackles in `06, including three sacks and four tackles for losses. In addition to playing inside linebacker, Haugen also played key roles on special teams for UW. His best games of the year were: a five-tackle performance at Virginia and a three-tackle, two-sack performance in a 24-0 Wyoming shutout of Colorado State. He achieved Academic All-Conference honors for the second time in his Wyoming career.

2005: For the first time in his Wyoming career, Haugen was healthy and he became an immediate contributor -- particularly on special teams. He was credited with 17 total tackles as a sophomore, including one tackle for a loss and one pass breakup. Haugen also excelled in the classroom, earning Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in his college career. He appeared in all 11 games for the Cowboys, and earned his first varsity letter.

2004: Injured. He entered 2004 fall practice No. 2 on the depth chart at strongside linebacker. But in August of 2004, he tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during practice. That injury required surgery and knocked him out of the entire 2004 season. He did participate on a limited basis in 2005 spring drills.

2003: Redshirted.

High School: Haugen earned First Team All-Greater Spokane League honors at linebacker his senior season at Joel E. Ferris High School. Haugen was also selected his team's team captain and Defensive Most Valuable Player. He led Ferris High in tackles as a senior, with 96 total tackles, including seven sacks. Haugen had two fumble recoveries, returning one 96 yards for a touchdown, and one interception, which he returned 70 yards for a TD. He was a three-year starter at linebacker for Ferris High. In addition to football, Haugen excelled in the sports of basketball and track and field. He was voted captain of his basketball team, in addition to being a football team captain. He helped lead Ferris High to a second place finish at the State Championships in 2002. An honor student throughout high school, Haugen's football team was named the Academic State Champions by the State of Washington in both 2000 and 2002. His high school football coach was Clarence Hough. Haugen was also recruited by Eastern Washington.

Personal: Born April 21, 1985, he is one of three children of Dianne Hall and Phil Haugen. Haugen was married on June 16, 2007, to his fiancee Anna. He is majoring in geography.
