09/30/2006 Wyoming at SyracuseUW This Season: Kyle Jacobo will be one of the most experienced receivers for the Wyoming Cowboys entering his senior season of 2008. Jacobo is an extremely consistent, reliable receiver. He will play primarily from one of the slot-receiver positions for the Cowboys again in `08. His experience and maturity should be invaluable to the younger receivers in the Cowboy program. An intelligent receiver, Jacobo is a former high school quarterback. He, sophomore David Leonard and redshirt freshman Brandon Stewart are the three leading inside receivers for the Pokes. 2007: Jacobo appeared in 11 games for the Cowboys. He caught five passes for 38 yards. He had two catches for 12 yards in a 23-3 season-opening victory over Virginia. He had one catch each against Boise State, UNLV and San Diego State. 2006: Jacobo played in all 12 games for the Cowboys, catching 10 passes for 74 yards, including one for a touchdown. He caught a season high three passes at Virginia. Jacobo also caught two passes each in wins over Utah State, in the season opener, and at UNLV, in the season finale. His one touchdown reception was a 15 yarder at Syracuse. 2005: Jacobo appeared in two games for UW, switching to wide receiver after coming to Wyoming as a high school quarterback. He earned a spot on the Cowboy depth chart during 2005 spring drills, being listed No. 4 at the "Z" receiver position, which is a slot receiver spot. He earned his first varsity letter. 2004: Redshirted. High School: Jacobo was a high school quarterback and safety at A.B. Miller High School in Fontana, Calif. He was named All-CIF as a quarterback both his junior and senior seasons. During his junior and senior seasons combined, he rushed for 1,980 yards and passed for 1,150 yards, running an option attack. He started at quarterback all four years of his high school career, and was elected team captain all four years. On defense, he recorded 31 tackles from his safety position as a senior. He was named All-Citrus Belt League, All-County and All-Area both his junior and senior seasons. For his career, Jacobo amassed 4,977 yards of total offense and scored 56 touchdowns. He completed 100 of 253 career pass attempts for 1,793 yards and 19 TDs passing, and added 3,184 rushing yards on 490 attempts and 37 TDs on the ground. He holds school records for career total offense, career rushing TDs, single-game rushing, single-season rushing and career rushing. Jacobo starred in football, basketball and track in high school. He has been timed at 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash, and has posted a top time of 14.2 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles -- an event in which he was an All-Conference performer. He helped lead his basketball team to a league title his senior season. Coached in high school by head football coach John Tyree.
