UW This Season: Weston Johnson has a chance to be one of the top linebackers in the Mountain West Conference in 2009. He is the Cowboys' most experienced linebacker, and provides a unique blend of athleticism and intelligence. His teammates showed the confidence they have in Johnson when they voted him a team captain for 2009. During the spring of 2009, Johnson was recognized by the UW College of Business as its top Senior Marketing Student.

2008: In his first season as a starter, Johnson ranked fourth in tackles for the Cowboys, with 78 total tackles. He also ranked 24th in the Mountain West in tackles per game, averaging 6.5. He recorded 4.0 tackles for losses, had one fumble recovery and blocked one kick as a junior, while starting every game at strongside linebacker. His best individual performance of the season came at UNLV, where he was credited with 11 tackles. Johnson recorded eight tackles in three other games -- versus Ohio, Air Force and Bowling Green. Against Ohio, he added a fumble recovery and 1.0 tackle for loss to go with his eight tackles. Johnson had seven tackles in back-to-back games at TCU and in Laramie versus San Diego State. He also blocked a kick in Wyoming's 35-10 win over the Aztecs. Johnson recorded six tackles and 0.5 TFL against Utah, and he had six tackles and 1.5 TFLs at Tennessee. He took over the starting spot at strongside linebacker (outside linebacker), after playing behind then Cowboy senior Sean Claffey the prior year. Johnson was named to the Academic All-Conference team for the third year in a row in 2008.

2007: Johnson recorded 26 tackles, one sack, two tackles for losses and two pass breakups as a sophomore in `07. He ranked 15th on the team in tackles with 26. While he didn't start as a sophomore in `07, he played significant time and showed signs of his tremendous potential. His best individual games of the season came against New Mexico and BYU. Johnson was credited with a season high six tackles versus the Lobos. He also broke up one pass against New Mexico. Johnson made five tackles versus the Cougars. For the second straight year, he earned Academic All-Mountain West Conference honors.

2006: Johnson ranked 15th on the Cowboy defense in tackles as only a redshirt freshman, tallying 19 total tackles. He had 12 solo tackles, seven assists, one tackle for a loss, four pass breakups, recovered one fumble and forced two opponent fumbles. His two forced fumbles ranked him No. 7 in the Mountain West Conference. His one fumble recovery came in a road win at New Mexico. His two forced fumbles came in a double-overtime loss at Syracuse and a 24-0 shutout victory over Colorado State. Johnson made as big an impression on the Wyoming coaching staff in 2006 spring drills as any player. He was listed No. 2 at the "Buck" (outside linebacker) position behind sophomore Mike Juergens entering 2006 fall drills and then was moved to the strongside linebacker position during the season. Earned Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in his college career. Also earned his first varsity letter.

2005: Redshirted.

High School: Weston Johnson was selected a First Team All-State wide receiver in Class 1A by The Denver Post. He was also selected to play in the Colorado North-South All-Star Game by the Colorado Football Coaches Association. Johnson was honored by being named a 2004 Scholar-Athlete by the Colorado Chapter of the National Football Foundation. He caught 38 passes for 618 yards and nine receiving touchdowns in 2004. He also returned 10 kickoffs for 260 yards and one TD, and had 12 punt returns for 170 yards. His senior season, Johnson played outside linebacker for Wray High School after playing the strong safety position as a junior. His senior season, Johnson had 29 solo tackles and 59 assists for 88 total tackles. He intercepted four passes and broke up three other passes. He helped lead Wray to a perfect 9-0 regular-season record in 2004. Wray ended the season 12-1 after advancing to the 1A State Championship game, defeating Rocky Ford, Hayden and Dolores before falling to Limon in the championship game. His junior season, he caught 39 passes for 406 yards and two TDs. He also made 26 solo tackles and 47 assists for 73 total tackles and three interceptions. He returned seven kickoffs for 133 yards and 12 punts for 200 yards. An outstanding multi-sport athlete, Johnson earned Honorable Mention All-State honors in basketball and First Team All-State honors in baseball. He placed fourth in the state tournament in the triple jump as a junior. He helped lead his basketball team to the first round of the state playoffs as a senior. His baseball team was runner-up for the state title his senior season. Johnson also achieved First Team Academic All-State honors three different seasons, and was a National Honor Society member two years. He was coached at Wray High School by Neal Rusher. Johnson was also recruited by Colorado and Kansas State.

Personal: Born Jan. 15, 1987, he is the son of Jill and Blane Johnson. He is majoring in marketing.
