UW This Season: Korey Jones has a chance to be an immediate contributor for the Cowboys, as he battled freshman Mark Nzeocha for starting duties at LEO linebacker last spring. The two are listed as co-starters entering the fall of 2011.

Junior College: Originally from Fort Collins, Colo., Jones was one of the leading tacklers in the nation at Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kan. Jones ranked No. 10 in the nation in tackles with 108, including 57 solo tackles and 51 assists. He also recorded 4.0 sacks for 26 yards and had one fumble recovery. He was named Honorable Mention All-Conference as a sophomore in 2010. Garden City was also one of the nation's best defensive units in junior college football in 2010. The Broncbusters ranked No. 9 in the nation in total defense (allowing only 214. 8 yards per game), were No. 11 in pass defense (131.5 yards per game) and ranked No. 13 in rushing defense (83.3 yards per game).

High School: Jones played his high school football at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins where he played for former Wyoming Cowboy Mark Brook.

Personal: The son of Lynelle Diede and Kim Jones, Korey's father played football at Colorado State. Jones was also recruited by Colorado State. He is majoring in sociology at UW.
