High School: Erik Kottom comes to Wyoming from Eden Prairie High School in Eden Prairie, Minn. A versatile athlete, he played tight end up until his senior season when he moved to offensive guard. As a senior, Kottom earned All-State, All-Metro honors and All-Conference honors. He was a key contributor on Eden Prairie's 11-2 team in 2005 that advanced to the semifinals of the state playoffs in Class 5A. Kottom was elected a team captain his senior season. His junior year, Eden Prairie posted a 10-1 record before losing in the sectional finals. In addition to football, he was a two-year starter in basketball, and achieved Honor Roll throughout high school. He played for head coach Mike Grant. In addition to Wyoming, Kottom was recruited by Kansas, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Personal: Born April 10, 1987, he is the son of Susan and Bruce Kottom. His father played football at the University of Minnesota at Morris, Minn. He had an uncle who played basketball at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and his grandfather played football and basketball at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. He plans on studying secondary education at Wyoming.
