Wyoming vs. Utah

UW This Season: Derrick Levy signed with the Wyoming Cowboys in February of 2006 after enrolling at UW for the spring semester in January of `06. Participating in spring drills, he immediately displayed his talents by earning the No. 2 spot at one of the outside receiver positions behind his fellow Mullen High School teammate Michael Ford. In the fall of 2005, he attended prep school at Milford Academy in New Berlin, N.Y., after being a highly successful high school receiver at Cherry Creek and Mullen high schools in Denver, Colo. He attended Milford in hopes of having another year to develop physically and attract a Division I college football scholarship offer. His year of prep school football paid off when he had a number of NCAA Division IA programs recruit him.

2005: Levy played the fall of 2005 at Milford Academy, Levy led his team in receiving with 26 receptions for over 500 yards and eight touchdowns. Milford posted a 10-2 record in 2005. He played for head coach Bill Chaplick at Milford.

High School: Levy's roots are in the state of Colorado, where he played high school football in Denver. Levy played his senior season at Cherry Creek High School in Englewood, Colo. As a senior, he caught 74 passes for over 1,100 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was named All-State and All-Colorado as a senior. He helped lead Cherry Creek to a 12-2 record before losing in the state championship game. Prior to transferring to Cherry Creek his senior season, he played his previous three seasons at Mullen High School in Denver. At Mullen, Levy caught 63 passes his junior season for over 900 yards and 12 TDs while earning First Team All-Conference accolades, as Mullen posted a 13-1 record, reaching the semifinals of the state playoffs. His sophomore season, Levy caught 24 passes for over 800 yards, and scored six touchdowns as Mullen went 11-2 and reached the state quarterfinals. His freshman season, he grabbed 16 passes for over 500 yards and two TDs, while Mullen posted a 10-4 record, advancing to the state quarterfinals. Also an oustanding basketball player, Levy achieved first team All-Conference honors as both a junior and senior. He played on a Cherry Creek basketball team that went 18-6 and reached the quarterfinals of the state playoffs his senior campaign. As a junior, Levy's Mullen squad posted a 21-4 record, ending the season in the state semifinals, and his sophomore season, Mullen recorded an 18-4 mark, concluding the season in the state quarterfinals. He was named a football team captain both his junior and senior seasons. Levy was named the Old Spice Player of the Year in football as a senior, and was also a McDonalds All-America nominee in basketball as a high school senior. He played for head coach Greg Critchett at Cherry Creek High School. Levy was also recruited by Cincinnati, Colorado, Iowa and South Florida.

Personal: Born June 22, 1987, he is one of two children of Nyasha Levy and Floyd Rossum. His cousin, Allen Rossum, played football at the University of Texas and later for the Atlanta Falcons. Levy is studying marketing at UW.
