UW This Season: Troy Lewis returns for his senior season playing key roles for Wyoming in both the defensive secondary and special teams. One of the quickest players on the Cowboy squad, Lewis is just as tough as he is quick. He is projected to backup fellow senior cornerback Julius Stinson at the field cornerback position in `07, and is on the depth chart at both punt returner and kickoff returner. 2006: Lewis played in all 12 games for Wyoming in `06. He made 12 tackles, including 11 solos, broke up two opponent passes and intercepted one. His one interception of the season came in a 24-0 shutout victory over Colorado State in a game in which he also broke up another pass. He committed to a scholarship offer from Wyoming in the summer of 2006, after the official letter-of-intent signing period. He enrolled at UW in the summer of `06, and gave the Cowboys a player with two years of previous playing experience at the junior-college level. Junior College: Lewis was an All-Conference cornerback and return specialist his sophomore season at Moorpark Community College in Moorpark, Calif. A team captain his sophomore season, he accumulated over 1,000 all-purpose yards, returning both kickoffs and punts. He was credited with 37 total tackles as a sophomore. His freshman season, Lewis intercepted two passes and was credited with 40 total tackles. He played for head coach Jim Bittner at Moorpark CC. Also an outstanding track and field performer, Lewis had a career best triple jump of 46' 9 3/4" to rank 10th in Moorpark history. He also placed sixth at the 2006 Western State Conference Championships. High School: Lewis played his high school football at Taft High School in Woodland Hills, Calif., where he played for head coach Troy Starr.
