Jim Marshall will coach the offensive line for the Cowboys. Marshall brings 23 years of college coaching experience to Wyoming, eight seasons as a collegiate head coach. He was most recently the head football coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin, an NCAA I-AA university, for the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Prior to being hired at his alma mater, Tennessee-Martin, Marshall was the offensive line coach at the University of Memphis from 1995-97 where he served on the same staff as then defensive secondary coach Vic Koenning, now Wyoming's head coach.

From 1989-94, Marshall was the head coach at Division I-AA member the University of Richmond. He also served as the offensive line and running backs' coach at Tulane University (1988-89). Marshall is no stranger to Wyoming Football, having coached against the Cowboys while at UTEP from 1985-87. He was part of Bob Stull's staff at UTEP that turned the Miners' football program around. UTEP finished fourth in the WAC in 1987, and a year later finished second in the WAC (to the Wyoming Cowboys) and appeared in the 1988 Independence Bowl. He also served previously as an assistant at Richmond (1980-85), Tennessee-Martin (1975-77 and 1979-80) and North Alabama (1977-78). During his coaching career, Marshall coordinated offenses that ranked in the Top 10 nationally in 10 different seasons.

As a student-athlete, he was both a college football and baseball player at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, for three seasons (1965-66 through 1967-68), and concluded his college career at Tennessee-Martin for the 1969-70 season. He was a center in football and was a Small College All-American as a catcher in baseball. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Tennessee-Martin in 1970. Marshall and his wife, Kay, have three children -- Eddie, Greg and Nicole.

"Jim Marshall brings an enormous amount of experience to our coaching staff," said Koenning. "Jim has already brought an excitement to our program, and he's going to be a great help to me with all of his head-coaching experience. We're very fortunate to have a man of Jim's abilities on our staff."

Marshall will recruit the states of Oklahoma and Texas.
