UW This Season: Larry Mitchell will enter his redshirt freshman season as the projected backup at free safety. He will backup senior Chris Prosinski, who was named to the Mountain West Conference's Second Team last year and ranked No. 10 in the nation in tackles per game. 2009: Redshirted. High School: Mitchell comes to Wyoming from North Crowley High School in Fort Worth, Texas, where he was a First Team All-District 3-5A selection as a safety his senior season. He recorded 58 tackles, had nine pass breakups, one interception, two caused fumbles, two recovered fumbles and 2.0 sacks his senior year. He also averaged 17.3 yards per punt return and returned one punt for a touchdown. He played for head football coach Mike Papas at North Crowley High. Personal: Born Sept. 13, 1990, he is the son of Herlynthia Stafford. Mitchell was also recruited by Houston, Kansas, Ohio and Oklahoma State. Mitchell is studying communication. |
