UW This Season: Hunter Richards has held down the starting right tackle position for each of the last two seasons, and is the projected starter again in 2006. He has started 23 consecutive games at right tackle for the Cowboys. Richards and fellow seniors Chase Johnson, at left tackle, and Jason Karcher, at center, provide the Cowboy offense with a strong core of leadership up front. The three seniors have started every game together over the past two seasons.

2005: Richards started all 11 games at right tackle for the Cowboys. He was part of an offensive line that helped Wyoming rank 34th in the nation in passing offense. He also helped pave the way for freshman running back Wynel Seldon, who set a new UW freshman rushing record with 871 yards in 2005.

2004: He started all 12 games at right tackle his sophomore season of 2004. Richards added a dozen pounds to his frame from the start of his sophomore season to the end of the 2004 campaign. He made perhaps the biggest move up the depth chart of any Cowboy in the spring of `04 when he went from a first-year transfer to the No. 1 right tackle on the Wyoming offensive line. In his first season as a starter, he helped the Cowboy offense average 26.5 points per game to rank No. 3 in the Mountain West Conference. Richards did bring a year of playing experience with him to Laramie, having played his freshman year at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

2003: Redshirted to satisfy NCAA transfer rules.

2002: Richards played his true freshman year at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

High School: A teammate of current Cowboy Adam Diehl at Douglas County High School in Sedalia, Colo., Richards was an accomplished football and basketball player for Douglas County. He earned Honorable Mention All-Conference in both sports, and was elected a team captain of his basketball squad his senior season. Played for former Wyoming graduate assistant football coach Jeff Ketron at Douglas County High. Coming out of high school, Richards was recruited by Colorado State, Colorado, Oregon and Wyoming.

Personal: Born June 1, 1984, he is one of three children of Monica and Michael Richards. Richards is majoring in communication.
